Eyebrows

  • Eyebrows are a crucial part of defining one’s face and plays a large part in one’s facial expressions. Finding the perfect eyebrow shape, color, and style can often be quite difficult and applying eyebrow makeup everyday can be a very tedious and time consuming task. However, more and more people are now turning to semi-permanent makeup to save valuable time, while always having flawless brows. Here at Hera permanent makeup we take the time to study your face shape, skin tone, and hair color in order to create the perfect set of eyebrows tailored to your own unique needs.
  • Our technicians utilize the art of microblading which is a tattoo technique in which the pigment is implanted into the basal membrane. Because we do not go as deep as a traditional tattoo, our makeup is semi-permanent and will gradually fade to a natural color and not a unsightly gray, blue or purple. At Hera, we draw realistic hair-like strokes with a manual handheld tool in order to create a natural and balanced look.
  • How long does microblading last?
    • It will depend on each client, however generally it will last from 6 months to 3 years.
  • How painful is it?
    • Because it is a tattoo some individuals will experience some pain, however we numb all areas before working on an area and we take many precautions in order to ensure the comfort of our customers.
  • Who are the best candidates for permanent eyebrow makeup?
    • Permanent eyebrow makeup will most benefit individuals with busy lifestyles, those with active lifestyles (ex. exercises a lot, goes hiking, is out and about),  those with spare eyebrows from overplucking, cancer survivors, individuals with uneven eyebrows, and those that are experiencing hair loss.
  • How long does it take?
    • The entire process will take around 2 hours.
  • Aftercare
    • Most people resume normal activity the day after the procedure. Others experience some slight swelling, which disappears after a couple of days. Eyebrow clients generally return to work very quickly after the procedure. Though the intensity and color of the makeup is more pronounced over the hours directly following the application, few clients wait more than 24 hours before returning to work.
    • After your microblading session, we will provide after care ointment that you should apply 3 times a day for 1 week with a Q tip. You should avoid washing your eyebrows for 24 hours, and avoid using soap and cleanser for a week. Do not apply any makeup.
  • Pigment changes
    • When evaluating your new permanent makeup directly after the procedure, you’ll notice that the color is intense and the lines are thicker than you envisioned. You’ll notice a change within the next couple of days. The excess pigment that changes the appearance of the color is shed during the scabbing process. The skin heals over the 48 to 72 hours after the procedure, and the layer of skin that heals over the iron oxide pigment tones the color down considerably. When the post-procedural swelling recedes, the lines will thin out.
    • Treat your new permanent eyebrows with care. Cooling feels good, but be gentle. Freezing the skin with ice packs can cause damaging ice crystals to form in the skin, so instead apply wet tea bags, a damp washcloth, or a gel compress that has been cooled in the fridge (not the freezer).

  • Concerns
    • Individuals that have no hairs/pores, have oily skin, have scars are active outdoors, and bleed a lot will tend to find that their color will fade faster than normal. Individuals with oily skin and a lot of bleeding can also sometimes find that their lines will become a little more blurry. Unfortunately this can not be prevented as it is because of each person's own skin type, body temperature, and lifestyle. Many people also have scars that are hidden within their eyebrows, usually you can tell you have them by seeing slight discoloration or shininess compared to other areas . These scars are usually caused by previous acne spot or chicken pox. Scars do not absorb color well and these areas will tend to fade faster than other areas.

  • Semi-permanent eyeliner adds definition and structure to the eyes. At times, putting on eyeliner can be time consuming and frustrating, especially on those days that it keeps coming out uneven. Semi-permanent eyeliner makes the lash line look thicker and fuller as well as makes the lashes look longer and more luscious.
